Citaat:
As most of you might know or at least suspect: Essen Spiel is almost upon us.
Petrichor is already in production, and the factory informed us yesterday that they might be able to have a small number of copies ready in time for them to be Air-shipped via express to Germany in time for the fair.
This is pretty huge for us. This means that we can have something to sell to help mitigate the immense costs of being at the fair, it is also incredibly important so as to allow us to secure deals with various distributors to ensure that Petrichor has a future in the next few years on the market. But there is also the massive caveat in our case, that air shipment is incredibly prohibitively expensive, especially since Petrichor's large number of glass beads makes the game very heavy.
The plan is to have a very small amount, around 100-200 copies selling at Essen, just enough to allow us to make deals with our partners and demo the game, and to mitigate a part of the huge costs of being there. We have always been transparent about the possibility of the game being at Essen before it ships to backers, but we want to take this transparency even further.
We strongly believe that if you are a backer and you will be at Essen, it is only fair to let you pick up your game, despite the fact that each copy given to a backer there, due to the immense air-shipment costs is actually being given away at loss. Therefore, provided that Petrichor makes it in time, we will offer Essen pick up, at the normal EU shipping cost. For those of you who backed for multiple copies, please do not pick them up at Essen, as this would be too much of a loss which we cannot in any way be able to front.
The bottom line is this; if it is really important for you to get the game as fast as possible and before everyone else, and you will be at Essen, and you tell this to us in the pledge manager which will soon open; we totally understand, we will hold a game for you and you can pick it up Thursday to Saturday. If, on the other hand, you think you will be fine with waiting until our promised delivery date in December (Yes, everything is still on track!), it would be a lot more beneficial for the game if we sell these copies in Essen to make some of these expenses back.
In terms of how we will sell it in Essen, the game, the expansion and promos will be available, all selling at a higher price than what they were selling on Kickstarter. The base game will sell for 45EUR, around 53 USD (you paid 45USD), the expansion will sell for 10 EUR, around 13 USD (you paid 10 USD) and the promos will sell for 5EUR around 6-7 USD (you got these for free). Furthermore, as promised, the KS exclusive Postcard will not be available at Essen. We are trying to find a way to make this available for those who want to pick the game up at Essen, but we can't make any promises on this for now. This may mean that if you pick the game up at Essen, you will not get the postcard.
As always, we would like to thank you for your support all along the way, it's been an incredible journey. If you're at Essen, even if you choose to be particularly awesome and not pick up your game, come say hi at Hall 2, F146 so we can show you the game, have a chat and maybe play a few rounds till the first harvest. We will be also showing off Vengeance, our Kickstarter from last year, so hopefully you'll be also in the mood for some good ole' B-movie style retribution. We'll be sharing our booth with our good friends, Mindclash Games. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that they're having a Kickstarter campaign right now for their new game, Cerebria - and if you think Petrichor's solo game is cool, you'll be happy to hear Cerebria's solo mode is also designed by the same David.
That's all for now, enjoy the autumn weather, and stay tuned for our next update in which we will tell you all about the soon-to-be-opened pledge manager!
