GAME RULES: TETRAËDER
A 3D Strategic Duel for 2 Players
================================================================================
OBJECTIVE:
The goal is to completely dominate your opponent. You win the game instantly in
one of two ways:
1. LAST MAN STANDING: Eliminate all 9 of your opponent's pieces.
2. STRATEGIC BLOCKADE: Trap your opponent so they cannot make any legal move at
the start of their turn.
COMPONENTS:
* 1 diamond-shaped board consisting of a checkered pattern of black and white triangles.
* 18 identical tetrahedrons (pyramids) with dots (1 to 4) on their faces:
9 black and 9 white.
* ANATOMY OF THE PIECE: When the face with 4 dots is flat on the board (facing down),
the faces with 1, 2, and 3 dots are arranged clockwise around the pyramid.
STARTING SETUP & THE FIRST MOVE:
Both players set up their 9 pieces in a pyramid shape of 3 rows in their own far
corner of the board. All pieces must start with the 1-dot face facing down (flat
on the board).
The orientation of the pieces from front to back is as follows:
* ROW 1 (Front row – 5 pieces): 3 pieces face with the 4 dots forward (towards the
center) and 2 pieces (in between) face with the 4 dots to the right.
* ROW 2 (Middle row – 3 pieces): 2 pieces face with the 4 dots forward and 1 piece
faces with the 4 dots to the right.
* ROW 3 (Back row – 1 piece): This single piece sits in the very back corner,
facing with the 4 dots forward.
THE OPENING MOVE: The very first move of the game is mandatory for both players:
you must roll your chosen piece exactly 4 times onto the field. You move in the
direction the 4 dots are facing (4 steps forward, or 4 steps to the right if the
board edge blocks the forward path). Only the front 3 pieces can be moved on the
first turn.
MOVEMENT RULES:
On your turn, choose one of your tetrahedrons. Move the piece by rolling (tipping)
it over the edges of the triangles on the board.
* The number of dots on the top face (at the start of your turn) dictates your
exact required steps.
* A 3-dot piece must roll exactly 3 times (and always ends on the opposite color).
* A 4-dot piece must roll exactly 4 times (and always ends on the same color).
* RESTRICTIONS: You can never step over other pieces, and you cannot backtrack
onto the exact triangle you just came from during the same turn.
COMBAT: THE SHOWDOWN METHOD:
You can never land directly on top of an opponent's piece. Instead, you attack
an enemy piece by landing directly adjacent (side-by-side) to it at the end of
your exact movement (3 or 4 rolls).
1. THE SHOWDOWN: Once you position your piece next to an opponent's piece,
compare the number of dots on the top faces of both tetrahedrons.
2. CAPTURING: To capture the enemy piece, you must ensure your piece has equal
or more dots on top than the opponent's piece. If you do, the enemy piece
is captured and immediately removed from the board.
3. THE ATTACKER'S BONUS: Because you win on a tie, attacking is always rewarded!
Even if both top faces show the exact same number of dots, the attacker wins
and the defender is eliminated.
4. DOUBLE ATTACK (THE FORK): If you land adjacent to two enemy pieces at the
same time, you must immediately declare one specific target to attack. You
resolve the showdown with that piece only; the other piece remains safe.
